Ankeny Community School District
Size and Location
The Ankeny Community School District is located in Polk County, Iowa, in the heart of the State of Iowa. Six miles from the capitol city of Des Moines, the district:
- Projected to serve more than 8,200 students in 2009-2010
- Is the 9th largest district in the state (student enrollment)
- Is the 2nd fastest-growing district in the state
- Encompasses 11 school buildings in 51.93 square miles

Academics
Ankeny Community Schools enjoy an outstanding reputation in the state and the Mid-west for an exemplary and balanced curricular and co-curricular program designed to meet the needs of all students. Some of the accomplishments Ankeny students achieved in 2008-2009 were:
- 97% graduation rate (#1 among the ten largest districts in Iowa)
- 0.45% dropout rate (Lowest rate among the ten largest districts in Iowa)
- 96.05% average daily attendance rate
- 84% of those taking the ACT scored 20 or higher (2007-2008)
- 23.4 average composite score on the ACT
- 35 seniors scored 30 or higher on the ACT
- 150 students took 5 or more AP/Honors classes (up from 129 in 2007-2008)
- 30th on the Belin and Blank Iowa AP Index with 249 AP exams among 457 graduates
- 9800 DMACC credits were earned by students
- 77% of the graduating class accepted to a college
- 88% of 11th graders proficient in both literacy and math, according to the ITED
Ankeny Christian Academy
Ankeny Christian Academy is a Preschool through 12th grade independent, non-denominational Christian school. We are accredited through the State of Iowa and our teachers are state-certified in their field. We are also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International. ACA currently has almost 300 students in Preschool through 12th grades and a faculty of 37 full-time teachers. Ankeny Christian Academy offers a multitude of art/drama, music, athletics, computer, student government, academic activities and community service. We have a college preparatory curriculum and we offer Spanish from Developmental Kindergarten through 12 grades.

Des Moines Area Community College
Des Moines Area Community College, DMACC, is the largest two-year college program in Iowa offering over 75 career programs.
DMACC offers two-year degrees and degrees for transferring to other colleges and universities. In 2004, 24,780 students were
served by 750 employees over six campus sites.
Two-Year Institutions
AIB College of Business
AIB College of Business is an independent, nonprofit, coeducational two-year college of business which offers associate
degree and diploma courses of study. The campus is located in Des Moines. The school offers majors in Accounting, Business
Administration, Information Technology, Office Administration, Realtime Reporting, and Travel and Tourism.
Hamilton College
Hamilton College is an institution of higher education offering quality programs that integrate general education,
professional skills, and career-focused education to empower students to develop and achieve their personal and career
potentials.
Four-Year Institutions
Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary
The Faith Baptist Bible College is located in Ankeny. The mission of the College is to provide an intensive biblical,
vocational, and general education on the college level with the goal of preparing students to minister effectively in
Christian service through leadership positions in and through fundamental Baptist churches and other organizations of
like convictions.
Drake University
Drake University is a private, fully accredited, coeducational university on a 120-acre campus in Des Moines, just 7 miles
south of Ankeny. Drake offers more than 75 undergraduate majors and many graduate programs in its six colleges and
schools - Arts and Sciences, including Fine Arts; Business and Public Administration; Education; Journalism and Mass
Communication; Law; and Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Des Moines University
Des Moines University offers education programs in medicine, allied heath services, health care administration and public
health. The University offers six degree programs through three colleges on its 22-acre campus: The College of Osteopathic
Medicine, The College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, and The College of Health Sciences.
Grandview College
Grandview College is a four-year liberal arts college located in Des Moines. Grandview hosts 1,750 students in 31 different
academic programs.
Iowa State University
Iowa State University is a four-year university located in Ames, IA. Iowa State is a large, prestigious university with a friendly hometown personality. Its 26,000 students choose from 100+ majors, study with world class scholars and keep more than 500 student organizations going strong.
Simpson College
Simpson College is a four-year United Methodist related, independent, undergraduate, coeducational, liberal arts college
located in Indianola, Iowa, approximately 20 miles south of Ankeny. Simpson has an outreach
